What we believe at Risen King Church about Jesus, the Bible, and the Church

Our Beliefs

Risen King Church is a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

There is one God,(1) who is infinitely perfect,(2) existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.(3)

Jesus Christ is the true God and the true man.(4) He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.(5) He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust,(6) as a substitutionary sacrifice,(7) and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.(8) He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures.(9) He is now at the right hand of Majesty on high as our great High Priest.(10) He will come again to establish His kingdom, righteousness and peace.(11)The Holy Spirit is a divine person,(12) sent to indwell, guide, teach, empower the believer,(13) and convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.(14)

The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice.(15)

Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God:(16) he fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature,(17) are separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ.(18) The portion of the unrepentant and unbelieving is existence forever in conscious torment;(19) and that of the believer, in everlasting joy and bliss.(20)

Salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all men; and those who repent and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God.(21)

It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit and be sanctified wholly,(22) being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service.(23) This is both a crisis and a progressive experience wrought in the life of the believer subsequent to conversion.(24)

Provision is made in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the healing of the mortal body.(25) Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the Church in this present age.(26)

The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, (27) which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all nations.(28) The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.(29)

There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life;(30) for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment.(31)

The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent(32) and will be personal, visible, and premillennial.(33) This is the believer’s blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service.(34)

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Risen King Alliance Church is to reach Rockland County and its surrounding areas for Jesus by being good neighbors, looking outward, sacrificing comfort, building spiritual friendships, and working together with other churches.

MISSIONAL CORE VALUES

The leadership of Risen King Alliance Church has affirmed that the following 5 missional core values will be the defining characteristics of this season of our ministry.

1) Being Good Hosts Toward Our Non-Christian Neighbors.

We enjoy hosting non-Christians who visit our homes and our church. Like Jesus, we enjoy their company and seek to befriend them. These are the neighbors God has given us. We appreciate and delight in their diversity—ethnically, socio-economically, and even religiously. We make every effort to listen to them and learn about their lives. While not adopting their lifestyle and values, we nonetheless refrain from judging their lifestyle and values, leaving that task to the Lord. Our first call, because we love Jesus, is to love and avail ourselves to them.

2) Servicing Primarily Outsiders, Not Ourselves.

Recognizing that the overwhelming majority of people of Rockland County do not know Jesus Christ, we affirm that we exist to serve these very same people by introducing them to new life in Christ, weakening the work of the devil in their lives, facilitating the transforming and healing power of the Holy Spirit, and doing whatever we can to minister to their physical needs. While RKAC will always be a place of refuge and restoration for us, it must never become an escapist enclave for Christians nor a fortress hostile to non-Christians, designed to keep them out.

3) Willingly Sacrificing our Personal Comfort.

We choose to be an organization willing to change and all change is fundamentally about sacrifice. As we envision reaching our non-Christian neighbors and friends in Rockland County, we affirm that we are willing to undertake great personal sacrifices in regard to time, money, and energy as opportunities present themselves. Therefore, we will not value our buildings and facilities above the needs of the people we are trying to reach. We choose to willingly give of our time and energy to serve the ministries of the church. We resolve to give sacrificially of our money in order to see the ministries of RKAC grow and expand. We believe that revival is birthed when God’s people choose to make great sacrifices.

4) Facilitating Spiritual Friendships.

Deep meaningful relationships and ministry times are difficult to achieve on Sunday mornings alone. Recent research shows that meaningful spiritual friendships are one of the most important things in personal spiritual growth. We will seek to be a church that fosters opportunities for the development of these spiritual friendships. We choose to have purposeful relationships that will challenge each other as we progress along our individual spiritual journeys.

5) Seeking to Strengthen and Partner With Other Rockland Churches.

We view other Rockland churches not as competitors, but as partners in reaching a lost county. We pray for their growth and success. We welcome the exchange of information, ideas and lessons learned, in the hopes of being wiser about our own initiatives in evangelism and ministries of mercy. We desire to consult with other Rockland churches about their outreach strategies and events, in order that our efforts might better complement theirs.
